It's been just a week and a a half since my Acer Netbook (running Windows) crashed bad due to bad sectors on the hard drive. SpinRite recovered it nicely (I lost one data file, that's it). So today I come into my office and my Linux desktop with the 500 GB of drive space had quit responding due to hard drive errors. I started SpinRite and it says it will be an estimate 12 HOURS on the first (of two) drives. So maybe sometime tomorrow I'll know the verdict.
Â
I normally run hard drive maintenance once a quarter, but I'm late this time because we got a new hosting server, and I had some glitches in the migration.
Â
I'm optimistic that SpinRite can work its magic once again. I'll update later when I know what the outcome is.
